There are a myriad of different wheels for racing bikes. The wheels are always made in 28", also known as 700C, where the rim is usually narrower than for other everyday bikes and is made in both aluminum and carbon. Carbon is increasingly used for racing wheels. This is an expensive material; however, it has many advantages in terms of weight and stiffness. Racing wheels are made both with a braking surface and without for disc brakes.
