How much air (tire pressure) you need in your MTB tires depends on several factors such as tire width, weight, terrain and whether you ride tubed or tubeless. A general range is between 1.5 and 3 bar (20-40 PSI). Many start at around 2.0 bar and adjust accordingly. Tubeless allows for lower pressures, e.g. 1.6-1.8 bar at the front and 1.7-2.0 bar at the rear. With tubing, 1.8-2.2 bar is typically recommended to avoid snakebites.
Most people ride with a pressure between 1.5 and 2.5 bar, depending on rider weight, riding style, terrain and whether the tire is tubeless or tubed. Start at around 2.0 bar and adjust according to experience and comfort. Lower pressures provide better grip and comfort on rough terrain, while higher pressures reduce the risk of punctures and offer less rolling resistance on firm ground.
It depends on wheel size (26", 27.5", 29"), surface (dry, muddy, mixed), riding style (XC, trail, enduro) and whether you want tubeless or classic tubular. For technical trails, coarse tread and reinforced sides are recommended. For XC and gravel, prioritize low rolling resistance. Also consider tire weight, grip and puncture protection.
There's no one right answer - it depends on your needs and your terrain. Popular and test-winning brands include Schwalbe, Continental, Maxxis and Specialized. Some tires are lightweight and have low rolling resistance, while others have extra grip in mud or strong puncture protection. Use the filters on the webshop to find the best option for you.
